GHRP-6
Category: Peptides · Last updated
GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 6, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) is a synthetic hexapeptide developed by Cyril Bowers in the late 1980s as one of the first growth-hormone secretagogues. It is the historical precursor to Ipamorelin and Hexarelin.
Mechanism
- Binds the Ghrelin_receptor (GHS-R1a)
- Stimulates GH release from pituitary somatotrophs
- Cross-reactivity: weakly raises cortisol and prolactin (less selective than Ipamorelin)
- Stimulates appetite via central NPY/AgRP neurons
Relevance to research peptides
GHRP-6 is mentioned in this catalog as the older, less-selective historical reference compound. The current research focus is on the cleaner selective agonist Ipamorelin.
