VEGF
Category: Proteins · Last updated
VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) is a family of dimeric glycoprotein growth factors that drive angiogenesis and vasculogenesis. The dominant family member, VEGF-A, signals primarily through VEGFR2 on endothelial cells.
Family
- VEGF-A · the canonical "VEGF"; primary pro-angiogenic ligand
- VEGF-B · cardiac and skeletal muscle metabolism
- VEGF-C · lymphangiogenesis
- VEGF-D · lymphangiogenesis
- PlGF · placental growth factor; cooperates with VEGF-A
